Discharging of power capacitors
Capacitor discharge application refers to the controlled release or discharging of stored electrical energy in capacitors. This controlled discharging of capacitors is ensured by using resistors which are used in conjunction with the capacitors. This helps regulate the discharge process, ensuring safe and controlled operation of the circuit and protecting other components in the circuit from getting damaged. The main roles of resistors in this application include: current limiting, energy dissipation and stabilization.
Cermet offers discharge resistors for LV, MV and HV capacitors.
